Decent bar, good service, poor food. I go to Bonnies with my family when im up to visit. After my fourth consecutive disapointing visit I wont be returning. Every time I go there I try something different and havent had anything good yet. Poorly prepaired, poor quality, over priced food. I'd drive down the road a bit to see what else there is.

Their house salad is limp iceberg lettuce with soup oysters. We got their prime rib and it was definitely not prepared well. Also I ordered a baked potato and could tell the chives were old and half dried up. It was not worth going here for food. I'm sure it would be a nice place to sit out on the porch and just drink.

I have been going there for years. Always good. Best damn walleye I have EVER had. Love the old school atmosphere. Please try to remember where you are. Your not in Chicago, your not in Milwaukee, your in Three Lakes, Wi. Take a step outside your instant gratification life and dig what Bonnie's has to offer. Have a drink at the bar, then head into the dinning room for dinner. Then head back to the bar for a nightcap! Great job Bonnie, keep it up.

I'm a regular customer and I love the atmosphere up here. Fast attentive service and good food. A bunch of friends and I have stayed at a cabin on site and it was cheap, and clean. It made the weekend. There is a huge front lawn to play bags in the summer and doubles as a HUGE parking lot for snowmobiles in the winter. Imagine the quintessential up north bar for drinks and supper. This is what you're gonna get. Call ahead on Friday in the peak months because it is going to be busy.

This was my second time at Bonnie's, and I remember last year being much, much better. On Fridays, Bonnie's offers an all-you-can-eat fish & chicken fry with sides served family-style. I don't like fish, so both times I went with the chicken. Last year I was happy with my choice, but this year I was very disappointed. My chicken choice was a drumstick or thigh, both burnt. I don't like dark meat, but I was starving and felt too bad about wasting food to refuse to eat either. I went for the thigh, and found it was 90% bone. There was maybe four bites of actual meat. Literally. It was such a turn off I actually tried to make my way through a piece of fish - two bites down before I actually thought I was going to be sick (which, to be fair, is my dislike for fish and not the actual product). Luckily there were fries and over-cooked potato pancakes for me to round out the meal. All the grease made me nauseous, thus curing my hunger problem. As Val said, the service was lacking. The rest of the table seemed happy with the fish, and drinks were very cheap (five drinks for $13, holler). Also, Bonnie's does offer a classic Wisconsin dining experience, both in dead-animal decor and fried goodness. I'd give it another go, being more vocal about not giving me burnt parts of the chicken I don't eat, but if it again was sub-par I'd probably eliminate it out of my rotation.

Basics: Good Bar and OK food. Go on a Friday and expect 60+ people enjoying the fun atmosphere that includes lakeside eating, large grass area with lawn games, a large front porch with seating and plenty of space to hang out with friends and family. I laughed when I read another reviewer note that "northwoods" food can be described as "fried and alcoholic" as your choices. So true. In any town or city with a population of 5K or more, the experience would be a 1 star. Given the limited options in the North Woods and the fun atmosphere I gave it 2. Bottom line, if you are looking to hang out with friends, have a drink, enjoy a night out, then Bonnie's is a solid choice.

This place is hit or miss. Good location. I've had real good experiences and I've walked out of there pissed. They have a nice menu and when Bonnies cooking the foods good but be warned, the place can be busy and when it is they can't seem to handle the "rush". Go in with low expectations and you may be surprised. There's better places in three lakes.

Have had two great walleye filets this season, the chef has this dish nailed! Good fresh veggies too...

Decent North Woods spot. We come to Bonnie's on our annual Three Lakes cabin trip, and usually pick Bonnie's for their all-you-can-eat Friday night fish fry. Bonnie's usually has a 30-60 minute wait for large groups (ours is almost always over 10 people), which is fine considering we show up unannounced. While you wait, you can get beer (though my friend was consistently ignored at the bar) and play cornhole (or 'bags' as the less inhibited call it) on the lawn. Food in the North Woods falls into two food groups: fried or alcoholic. I expend the majority of my weekend's calories in beer, but save room for hearty dinner bases to thwart hangovers and puking. The fish fry is decent. What's not decent is service. I know it's busy in the summer in the North Woods, but with several waitstaff employed, I find it hard to believe it's too busy to check in to refill water / ketchup / beers. Also, considering it's AYCE, they really don't offer many 'seconds.' Not that we really need any since the portions are relatively healthy, but a check-in would be nice. If anything, just hire an additional busboy for the water / ketchup stuff. In the past, I was charmed by the smarmy waitstaff, but that's no longer the case. You'll probably still find me there once per year, cause I'm not one to put up a food-related fight, but there are better and more charming places in Three Lakes.

Food was very average. However, our service was very good. Had a 30 minute wait for party of eight. We were seated courteously after 25 minutes. Our server was punctual and constantly attending to any needs. She was at my shoulder promptly with a pepper mill when I quietly queried my nephew about fresh pepper on my potato salad. So, if you are expecting food that is better than merely average, you may be disappointed. But, if you want to be taken care of with friendly and prompt service, you'll be in good hands. 1 star for food; 5 for service.

Nice venue and a nice bar. Go for a drink. Food is very hit or miss, I agree with the other reviewer. We waited triple the time of the estimate, and not in high season. Our very simple order (two fish dinners) was put in wrong -- when our meal arrived and was put down it was fish and chicken. We flagged down the nearest person -- as we honestly thought we had another table's order. No apology, waitress seemed to imply that because she wrote it down that way that was our order .... yikes. Returned with just fish which was good but very very over salted french fries and very very greasy over cooked potato pancakes, which my husband would have returned but at that point it was just make the best of it and get out of here. To add to this food -- my chair was crashed into twice by another waitress who was hauling around (at one point she tripped on the chair at the table next to me!) I flagged down Bonnie to nicely mention (she is going to hurt someone or herself) and while she was nice, clearly she said nothing to the girl because as we checked out and paid, this waitress knocked into my husband; we just laughed at this point...OMG! Been going here for 18+ years -- since before Bonnie had the place -- and have been there twice before writing this. Wont be back to eat, too many other choices.

Was up north over Easter weekend and decided to drive to Bonnie's after reading about the 24oz Bloody Mary. I'm always on the hunt for a good one and I wasn't disappointed. It was wonderful ~ definitely a meal in a glass! She puts everything but the kitchen sink in there, and the Bloody Mary itself isn't bad, either. We had the walleye cheeks for a snack, and I have to say, they were fabulous. Based on this first visit to Bonnie's, we're going to try the fish fry on our next trip up north.

The location is great; the bar is great. My father absolutely loves this place, but I have never quite found something I like on the menu despite going here multiple times a year. For me the food is too heavy, which may just be while my father loves it so much.

One of my favorite northwoods spots! Good food, good beer, great service, reasonable prices, and a fantastic fish fry on Friday nights (best in the area, imho). And when the weather's nice, the outside patio is really enjoyable -- a nice spot to watch the lake, or let the kids play a game out on the lawn. If you're eating indoors, be sure to keep an eye on the deer feeding station behind the building!

My Mom and I make it a point to try this restaurant every five years because it is close and the setting is beautiful. We have decided that we are good for another five years. I agree with much of what other people said about the fish fry. I would not go as far as to say it was burnt but it was definitely well done and a little dry. Also it was evident that lots of other food had been cooked in the grease. At least the cole slaw and bread were really good which kind of saved the meal for me. Whenever I do try this place again I will not get the fish fry unless someone else gets it and it looks better. The Bloody Mary was one of the best I have ever had.
